La Banne

Peaceful, private, perfectly positioned

Secluded but not isolated. La Banne offers the best of both worlds: a tranquil rural setting with easy access to the very best of the Dordogne, the perfect base for charming villages, historic sites and countryside adventures.

Your gateway to the Dordogne

The hamlet of La Banne

La Banne lies within the commune of Sagelat, just 2.2 km from the medieval village of Belvès, one of France's Plus Beaux Villages. This small, friendly community blends rural tranquillity with authentic Dordogne life.

The river Nauze, a tributary of the Dordogne, flows through Sagelat at the foot of Belvès. Enjoy a scenic 25-minute walk along quiet country lanes, past Sagelat's 12th-century church, to the heart of the village with its café-bars, restaurants and bustling Saturday market.

In Siorac-en-Périgord, 6 km away on the river Dordogne, you'll find more shops, places to eat and a supermarket.

The domaine

Domaine de La Banne comprises our beautifully renovated farmhouse, extensive gardens and the converted barn that houses the guest accommodation. The grounds and the surrounding farmland, kept by local farmers, guarantee privacy and peace.

Wildlife is abundant: you might spot deer, wild boar, badgers, rabbits, hares and many birds while you explore the gardens and fields.

Your hosts

Before you arrive at Domaine de La Banne, our home and yours during your stay, we'd like to share a little about us.

Neil's journey has been creative and varied, from theatre to media management. David's background is in finance, with years in public service and consultancy.

For years we dreamed of living in the Dordogne countryside. When we discovered La Banne, its charm, tranquillity and breathtaking views captured our hearts: we had found the changement de vie we'd been searching for. Since settling here we have created a stylish, welcoming space for guests, and we love sharing this setting with everyone who comes to discover the region's history, culture, food and wine.

We live on site with our two dogs, Leo and Libby, and are always happy to offer advice or a friendly chat. We look forward to welcoming you.

À bientôt! Neil & David
